August 1st Deadline for Benton-Franklin Fair entries or there will be a late charge. From the exhibitor’s book:

  • DIVISION I. Challenge Class – This year’s challenge class is: It’s Bee-autiful. Items entered in the Fiber Arts department are eligible to be entered in this class as long as they are bee themed (i.e. black and yellow, have bees, have a flower garden for bees, etc.) A short description of how the item fits the theme must be included with each entry. Have fun and be creative!
  • Take in is Sunday August 18th 1-6 and pick up is Sunday August 25th 8-10. I will need help setting up and taking  down the display. Many hands make light work.
  • If any of you raise animals we need their wool in Department 6. It’s a great way for us to show the public what raw fibers look like. We have an awesome judge who will be judging the fleeces on hand spinning qualities.
  • There will be ongoing demonstrations Tuesday through Saturday. Any fiber arts project is welcome to be
demonstrated (as long as it’s safe for the public and won’t stain the floor or other people). If you want to bring a piece of big equipment you can bring it on Sunday and drive it right to the door and then pick it up the following Sunday.
  • Spinning wheels can be tucked into the display when not in use and looms can either be put in display or be roped off depending on size.
  • There will be some chairs available but their comfort is debatable. In any case they are first bum first served so you might want to bring your own.
  • Wednesday is Kids Day and we are working on setting up hands on demonstrations for the kids. If you have a demonstration or would like to wrangle children please let me know.
  • The demonstration has a good view of the stage so if there is a concert that you want to listen to you are welcome to sit and listen while demonstrating in our booth.
  • There will be a limited number of entry passes for demonstrators who work 4 hours. Please contact Rebecca Harkins at  re*************@gm***.com to sign up. The tickets are on a first come first serve basis.
  • What you can do to help besides entering your awesome work:
    • – set up the display (Sunday August 18th 2 until done)
    • – Demonstrate (Tuesday August 20th – Saturday August 24th)
    • – help with kids day (Wednesday August 21st 10-3)
    • – take down (Sunday August 25th 7:30 until done)
  • Finally there is an opportunity to have your items entered in the Ritzville Fair. One of our members has generously volunteered to take the items up for us. This will happen Sunday August 25th. More information will be coming later about this opportunity.
