BY THE BOOK KNITTERS

Our next meeting will be April 19th at 6:00pm in
Conference Room A at the Richland Library.
We will be discussing how to skein the yarn to dye for
Self-Striping Socks. We had 2 examples: 2 small circles of yarn
for red and white stripes with a larger blue circle and a large 22 foot
skein. Bring your yarn and your math worksheets. I’ll bring the dye
colors, a swift and ball winder.
Carol Kaminsky and Kathy Meyers came to the meeting to tell us about the Desert Fiber
Arts Funder Raiser in November and asked our help in making Gnomes, Pin Cushion, Woven
Snowflakes or knitted projects. Everyone decided they wanted to try making Dryer Balls. We
will schedule a Dryer Ball session this summer after dyeing the yarn for socks. As DFA
schedules the work sessions I’ll send the information out to the knitters. Everyone is welcome
to attend.
WHAT WE ARE KNITTING THIS MONTH
Leah and Julie are knitting afghans for the Linus Project. Julie is knitting the Mystery
Knit-Along, a Linus Project Fundraiser https://projectlinus.org/knitcrochet/ . Lissa is
participating Sock Madness and is working on Engelkristall by Caia Gossens. Nancy knit the
Duchess MKAL 2021 Fall Edition with over 1800 beads. Susan is knitting her second Ribby
Sock by Chrissy Gardiner. Jill is knitting the Lillian Cardigan with an added lace panel on the
back. Shanti is knitting a Bath Towel with 6 shades of organic cotton and is working on an
Estonian Shawl by Nancy Bush. Rosanne is knitting a hat and has just finished a counted cross
stich project. Jan is making Scrubbies! Carol is working on a chunky vest. Franna is knitting
the New Year’s Eve MKAL. Earlene is knitting the Dovetail Cowl by Judy Marples. Whew!
