Next meeting will be June 20th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Richland Library in Conference Room A

This month Lori Seeliger brought her vintage Sock Machine and gave us a brief talk about how it works. She explained how to use waste yarn to get the sock started, how to pick up stitches to make a knitted hem and how to graft the toe with the Kitchener stitch. While Lori was here she made a sock blank for future dyeing and knitted a sock in less than an hour. It was a very cool demo. We also had a look at 3 different types of children’s knitting machines. The best was a Hello Kitty machine with the center hole set at an angle to allow the knitting to drop off the back instead of gathering in the middle.

A Mom and two brothers came in to learn to knit. The younger brother, Jonathan learned to knit at school and his mom and older brother, Ben wanted to learn too. The family all started simple knitting projects and because of the donations of needles and yarn the entire family went home with big smiles. We had another new visitor, Jan came to the meeting and learned about Arm Knitting.
