Kathy, Sharon, Larry, and Cheryl pack it up after the demo for the Tri-City Quilters at their October meeting.  We got the giggles trying to fit into the elevator at Central Church.  Neil was there but needed to leave early, so that’s his backpack basket.  That is Susan S’s chair, upholstered with handwoven fabric from a Walla Walla weaver.  Under it is a box of Larry’s wonderful overview of handwoven cloth.

The quilters were intrigued by Kathy’s small portable looms and the cool projects she’s made on them.  Sharon heard the hilarious comment that they were surprised that someone “at her age” would tackle a new hobby.  But most of the comments were how awesome and incredible our hobby is.

DFA also went into Kennewick and Kamiakin High School fiber arts classes this fall.  The teachers thanked us for making their lecture much more real.  The students got to try weaving on Sharon O’s floor loom and Larry’s table loom, spin on Connie S’s wheel, spindle spin with Cheryl and they were amazed to learn from Vicki H about raising silk worms and reeling from cocoons.
