Saturday, August 6, 10am-4pm
The grounds of Maryhill Museum of Art came alive with fiber enthusiasts the first Saturday in August. Huge thank-you & hugs to all the Desert Fiber Arts members who came out to demonstrate at the Fiber Festival & watch the installation of the Exquisite Gorge 2 Project! Temperatures hovered in the low to mid 90’s with an ever so slight breeze. Each artist spoke about their sculpture as the 66-foot-long sculpture was assembled. There were gasps of amazement as Section 8 was driven out loud & proud on the flatbed trailer pulled by a shiny John Deer driven by Lou Palermo in her red & white polka-dot dress! Ophir wowed the crowd as she spoke from the heart about collaboration, new friends and learning of Bendiches Manos. The sculpture moves to Lewis & Clack college in September and will return to DFA in December.
