General Instructions
- This is a free pattern with no restrictions for improvement of the pattern and for sale of finished shawl.
- The shawl designer will be revealed with the last clue.

- This is a charted Lace Shawl with a 3 stitch garter edge.
- This is for knitters who have been knitting scarves and are ready for something more challenging, a larger project or want to learn new skills.
- There will be moments of panic but they are well defined and alternate stitches have been provided.
- Help for the KAL will be at the Desert Fiber Arts Studio at 101 N Union St Suite 208 in Kennewick on each Wednesday evening in May from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
- You can knit 3, 5 or 7 Nupp or add a Bead just be consistent throughout the Clue.
- This pattern is suitable for lace weight, sock weight or very light DK weight yarn.
- This pattern is not suitable for bulky or worsted weight yarn, you will lose the lace definition and the final item will be too large.
- This pattern is not suitable for variegated yarn, you will lose the lace definition
- With few well-marked exceptions
- The 3 edge stitches are always knit-stitches on RS and WS and the first stitch is slipped purl wise, yarn in front, without knitting.
- Even rows are purled except double YO-s, where first YO is purl stitch and the second YO knit stitch.
Yarn weight Lace, SuperFine or Sock Weight
Yardage 766 – 930 yards (700 – 850 m) your mileage might vary. The first 3 clues use approximately 75 grams of sock weight yarn
Needle size US 4/3.5 mm or whatever size needle floats your boat
Notions Stitch markers, needle, size 6 E-Beads, crochet hook to fit your beads
Difficulty Medium with bits of zing or twist, only a few spots of out-right panic

- Picking Up Stitches
CO 3 sts. (This is a No-Hump Cast-on)
a) Knit 3 st, turn work.
b) Sl st purlwise with yarn in front, k2, turn work.
c) Repeat row 2 until counting the slipped stitches on the side there are 13 slipped stitches.
Row 1
a) Do not turn work. Rotate piece 90 degrees clockwise, place marker.
b) Skip first slipped stitch, *insert needle under next sl st and pick up a stitch, skip next sl st,* repeat until you have picked up 6 stitches.
c) Place marker, rotate piece 90 degrees clockwise; pick up and k 3 sts along CO edge.
d) There should be12 sts on your needle.(3 st, marker, 6 st, marker, 3 st).
Row 2 [WS]: sl 1st st purl wise with yarn in front, k2, p6, k3.
Starting May 1st you will continue with Chart 1 Row 3.
