It’s 4th Monday of the month and The Rigid Heddle Study Group will be meeting on October 22 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at the DFA studio.

Exploring Double Weave will continue. Any questions regarding double weave? Direct them to Carol Kaminsky.

It is also a good time to bring your items for the Fiber Arts Sale, as we will be sharing time and space for the second day of ‘take-in’.

See you there.

The technical difficulties with the Double Your Fun Double Weave video have been worked out and we will watch it at the meeting.

If you are interested in weaving a double weave project here is a list of what you will need:

  • The warp yarn can be cotton, linen, wool or just about any type of fiber, but make sure it is smooth and strong so the warp threads do not stick together
  • A minimum of two pick-up sticks, if you want to do a warp color exchange where the bottom warp weaves on top and the top warp weaves on the bottom you will need an additional two pick-up sticks
  • Two shuttles
  • Two heddles of the same size and dent
  • It is helpful to have a mirror you can set up beside your loom to monitor your shed
  • A small flash light to check the bottom layer of your weaving
  • Warping peg, clamps and anything else you use in warping your loom

If you have any questions, contact Kathy Myers, Carol Kaminsky or Dorothy Mucha.
