Thursday, July 11th, 1-3pm

The next Stafford video will be released June 27 on “simple collapse weave.” I have heard this technique called
“differential shrinkage.” 2 week after the video release is Thursday, July 11. I can host that meeting at my place off Gage, near the Mormon Temple. 1-3pm. I’m assuming many of us will be in & out of town all summer, so taking a poll to capture the most folks will be futile. Come if you can.

A note on the collapse weave project:

  • Jane has a kit of fine merino and silk for this project. There are less expensive ways to play with this concept. For example, Eugene Textile Center has 16/2 bamboo…a rayon-type of yarn, fine like the silk. Like silk, it will shrink only slightly compared to fine merino wool. The catch is that ETC needs about 2-2 ½ weeks to order the color you want. So the time to be thinking about this lesson is now.
  • Study the kits Jane has available and look through your stash and online for substitutes that fit your budget. Jane  will provide the basic recipe. We will simply need to change the sett, possibly, to fit our substitute yarns. Or  splurge on Jane’s lovely kit. She is conscientious about providing quality yarns.
