It was great to see everyone for a fairly casual business meeting and then a sharing of breakfast snacks and conversation.

The votes are in! The following is your new Board of Directors

President – Betsy D.
Vice President – Cathy P.
Treasurer – Dorothy M.
Secretary – Ord McC.
Members-at-Large – Sue DeM., Lyn B. and Chris L.

The increase in the add-on dues from $1.00 to $5.00 was approved

The Budget was also approved.

I thanked many members for their help in making improvements and keeping the place running. It takes a village!!!!

Big thanks to Marion H. for bringing in all that grant money. We continue to work on our wish list. The new flooring in the back rooms looks fabulous and is a direct result of Marion’s hard work.

Carol K. has improved on our new member process by holding live orientations. This has gotten new members into study groups fairly quickly and has worked great! Carol also helped Cindy Jewell reorganize the equipment room and update the inventory.

There were many other people that were involved in all aspects of the Guild who were recognized at the meeting.

I also reviewed a LONG list of accomplishments this year. Our visibility in the community has increased, as has our membership due to the EG2 project, which was shown at the Reach Museum and Maryhill Museum, Fall Market, and SageFenCon went great and also attracted new members.

Cheryl R. reviewed all of the presentations made at the General Meetings this year. We learned about sheep, lace-making, sewing our handwovens and many other topics.

Dorothy M., our esteemed Treasurer, has identified training modules that we can use to help future Treasurers learn or refresh the knowledge of Quickbooks. Due to grants, we ended the year with more money than when we started!

Next year is DFA’s 50th Anniversary! We need members to help with planning events to celebrate.

We also need one or more members with financial knowledge to serve on the Finance Committee. Dorothy wants to spend this year mentoring our next Treasurer. If you know someone that is interested, let us know.

The revised Policies are now on the website and in the library. Let me know if you have questions or thoughts about current policies or the need for others.

The transition board meeting occurred after the general meeting. Outgoing members provided words of wisdom to incoming members and a meeting date was set for the next board meeting.

It will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the studio. Members are welcome to attend. The Board meetings will no longer be on Zoom unless requested by a Board member due to their inability to meet in person.

Happy fibering!

Betsy D
