Benton Franklin Fair KIDS DAY

This year at the Fair for Kids Day we will have a participation project from 10:00am until 4:00pm. There will be a plastic kiddie pool, fleece and a bit of water and the kids will create a Stomp Rug. This will require lots of felting quality fiber. Probably all the fiber at the studio and more. (Yes this is a heavy handed hint for donations). The Stomp Rug will start with layers of darker fleece first then gradually adding lighter layers until we get to a greenish/meadow-ish looking background. Then bright colored flowers will be added.

At Dye in the Park (June 23 8am – 4pm) we will dye all the fiber on hand in floral and leafy green colors. Over the summer the wool will be carded into bats to assist the felting process. This is a great opportunity for  members wanting to learn how to use the electric carder.

If the rug turns out OK we will sell it at the Annual Sale this Fall (if it turns out ugly as sin it will be a raffle prize for
some lucky member).

As time permits members will be able to design their own rug with their own fibers and having it felted by the kids. Must be present to participate.
